February 5th Thursday University of Iowa Campus Greens sponsor talk by William James Smith, Jr. on “Free Trade, the Environment, and Democracy: Ramifications of the Free Trade Area of the Americas,” and Ethan Grundberg, Matt Cleinman, and Michael Davis, student activists, will discuss the resistance movement to the FTAA, the assault on civil liberties at the November 17-21, 2003 FTAA Summit in Miami, and the broader implications of the agreement for democracy.
