Johnson County Green Party
Uptown Bill's Small Mall, 7:30-8:30 p. m.
Present: Gail Ardery, Kevin Owens, Holly Hart, Florence Boos, Bill Boos
Holly reported that John Jennewein is looking into the purchase of more Green Party merchandise. He couldn't make tonight's meeting, but reports that he has received Green party buttons and is working on getting Green Cards.
We discussed the upcoming Iowa Green Party state meeting and the feasibility of hosting Ted Glick here at the same time. We focused on cost, feasibility, logistics and the best way to use time and resources. Some interest was expressed in finding a speaker closer to this area and perhaps inviting Glick for the fall for a more "externally focused" set of events.
We then discussed the location
of the meeting. The Iowa City Public Library is not availabe on May 6th,
and in answer to Holly's inquiry, the Wesley House is unable to host a
political organization. The back room of Uptown Bill's Small Mall would
be available, although at a cost. Kevin Owens will inquire whether a similar
campus organization might be willing to reserve a room for us at the Iowa
Memorial Union, and if not, we will arrange to meet at Uptown Bill's.
Bil Boos reported on the events of last weekend's conference on the Medical
Consequences of War, sponsored by the Physicians for Social Responsibility.
He represented the Green Party at a Sunday brunch for co-sponsoring organizations,
and has ordered a DVD the presentation by British physicians currently
working in Iraq.
